Service Offerings
1. Refills and Re-pressurisation
If your firefighting equipment has been activated, whether in an emergency or accidentally, we can quickly refill, re-pressurise, and return the extinguishers to service. Ensuring your equipment is operational is vital for safety and can save lives.
2. 5-Year Extended Service
After five years in service, fire extinguishers require an Extended Service. This includes a discharge test to verify the effectiveness of the extinguishing medium, an inspection for contamination, and subsequent refilling and re-pressurisation to extend service life for another five years.
3. 10-Year Overhaul
Carbon dioxide extinguishers need a complete overhaul after ten years. This legal requirement involves discharging the extinguisher, testing its structural integrity, and ensuring compliance with British and European standards. Following successful testing, it can be refilled and returned to service.
Refilling Process
How to Refill an Extinguisher
The refilling of fire extinguishers is a cost-effective maintenance solution. Many modern extinguishers can be refilled with minimal inconvenience. Here’s a brief overview:
- Water Extinguishers: Easily refilled on-site with tap water and require proper sealing and pressurisation.
- AFFF Foam Extinguishers: Similar process to water extinguishers but include an AFFF solution for additional fire protection.
- ABC Dry Powder Extinguishers: Not refillable on-site due to the complexity of the process; only suitable for outdoor use.
- Carbon Dioxide Extinguishers: Require a licensed operator for refilling due to safety concerns. A service exchange is often the preferred method.
